Came across these bracelets made out of bass strings. Yup, you read that right. Check it here: http://www.wearyourmusic.org/store/bass_string_bracelets
Definitely have to order me one of those babies in black.
Seems like WearYourMusic specializes in accessories and other stuff made out of old music material… they make coasters out of old 45’s and similar things.

from Basstheworld.com’s facebook page: “Someone was trying too hard to get one of those fabulous ‘roasted maple’ necks”
So what’s a roasted maple neck? Suhr guitars offers an explanation on their site:
Roasted Maple - A new innovative feature, the Roasted Maple necks are cut from Maple wood blanks that are “baked” in high-tech oxygen-free ovens at a temperature of 250 degrees Farenheit by our wood supplier. This process removes moisture and all kinds of other organic “impurities” that affect the stability of the wood and make it much more rigid while adding a deep and warm amber color for a natural vintage look.

I won’t lie, I wasn’t too familiar with Duck Dunn. But there’s always that one bass line/song that you really like, and you feel dumb after realizing that a certain person was associated with it. This is one such song.

The world of bass just lost a giant. RIP Donald “Duck” Dunn. He died yesterday (May 13) at the age of 70, while on tour in Japan.
From Wikipedia:

Donald “Duck” Dunn (November 24, 1941 – May 13, 2012)[1][2] was an Americanbass guitarist, record producer, and songwriter. Dunn was notable for his 1960s recordings with Booker T. & the M.G.’s and as a session bassist for Stax Records, which specialized in blues and gospel-infused southern soul and Memphis soul music styles. Dunn also performed on recordings with The Blues Brothers,Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Albert King, Levon Helm, Neil Young, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, Guy Sebastian, Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan, Roy Buchanan and Arthur Conley.

He’s perhaps most notable for the instrumental “Green Onions”, which he performed with guitarist Steve Cropper.
